Photographed on 19-6-04, looking a bit sad, in bright sunshine, minutes before the big cloud burst in the background hit.
Don't know what the status of this aircraft is now (Dave Jackson, can you fill us in?), but one thing is for sure, AA will not scrap it. Convair_front_side_on_small.jpg (171 Kb, 135 downloads) |

Indeed a very nice a/c in AA fleet. A pitty it never saw service. I remember from the press they had troubles with the certification of the Convair. The only other CV ever on the UK register was the demonstrator with Napier Eland turboprops...
Hopefully we will see it one day in the air as part of the historical fleet Fernand "jets are for kids" |

It DID see service with Air Atlantique, as CS-TML with Agroar titles but flown by Air Atlantique pilots. They did about 60 hours of commercial flying during the summer and autumn of 2000. The longest successful cargo flight was a night charter from Teeside to Zaragoza, before the first of two fires which ultimately grounded it.

Engine fires?
Those cowls look pretty tight and confining. How do the 2800s cool inside those things? |
