Found this via the Yahoo 727 group:
http://www.cekool.com/tankers.wmv My French is a bit rusty, so I'm not sure what it's all about. However there are some cool video sequence of a 727 (former AA?) taking off from dirt strips... that's some serious dust kicking!!! BTW, note cockpit take-off shot at the very end of the video. Is that the stickshacker kicking in? |

Nicolai,
Oh man what great footage of the 727 takeoff's especially the action on the dirt runway. I love the downhill part of the runway where they really gain speed for rotation. The cockpit sequences top notch during taxi while the pilots went over the check list...and then as the aircraft was gaining speed for takeoff...the rattling in the cockpit. Boy that's the kind of stuff I like to see...bring on more video. Thanks, Doug |

Hello guys,
Not the mentioned part from "Tankers en plein ciel", but try this link from Youtube.com, which is longer in length than the clip previously found at cekool.com, albeit in lower quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BIJqb90S-8 Hope you enjoy it. |

Yeah, great video, even if it is a jetliner.
My French is pretty rusty, but as far as I could tell, they're a specialist "go anywhere" aircargo outfit, operating in a war-torn African country (Luanda, which is in Angola is mentioned), supplying a diamond mine which has a rough strip runway, also used by vehicles. The men behind the airline, Transafrik, are something of aviation adventurers, buying their 727s for about $1M apiece and amortising them in about a month! Look at the wrecks at the side of the runway too. It's high risk but high reward work-a monthly earning figure for a pilot, of $20,000, is mentioned. The aircraft are completely unwanted/unsuitable in/for advanced western countries. Hope this helps. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Michael Blank, |
